Celebrate National Library Week
By admin | March 28, 2018
The Rhode Island Library Association (RILA) is sponsoring two events during National Library Week April 8th-14th, 2018 to raise awareness of the great services that libraries provide in their communities:
- April 10 (Tuesday): Library Legislative Day at the Rhode Island State House, 2:30 to 4:30 pm. RILA, along with the RI Coalition of Library Advocates (COLA), the School Librarians of Rhode Island (SLRI), the RI State House Library, the URI Graduate School of Library and Information Studies (GSLIS), and others will be participating in an afternoon of library advocacy at the RI State House. Libraries and library organizations are welcome to attend and/or request a table to promote the great work of libraries to state legislators.
- April 14 (Saturday): Library Day, libraries across the state. RILA invites you to participate in the 4th Annual Rhode Island Library Day. The purpose of this day is to host events and plan activities that will raise awareness about the wonderful things Rhode Island libraries are doing and how Rhode Islanders benefit from their libraries. Public libraries are also granting amnesty for library fines that day. Let RILA know what’s going on at your library on Library Day and use the #rilibrarieslead on all your social media posts related to RI Library Day 2018. For more information, see our RI Library day page.
OLIS will be participating in Library Legislative Day and look for OLIS staff at libraries across the state on Library Day. We look forward to seeing what’s going on in your library on April 14!
