Numbers and Spreadsheets and Budgets (Oh my!)
By chaichin | September 25, 2013
From the ACRL New England Chapter Leadership Development Committee:
The ACRL/NEC Leadership Development will treat you to one of best and most useful workshops you will ever attend. Join us at The College of the Holy Cross on Thursday October 31, 2013. Morning coffee and lunch will be provided.
Higher Ed. Finance 101 – Spooked by spreadsheets? Lost in a corn maze of numbers? Librarians new to the budgeting process at any level will have the opportunity to hear librarians from two institutions speak about the budgeting basics that everyone should know in order to help them directly in their own career path and to understand their organizations more fully. This one-day workshop will cover understanding budgeting vocabulary, how to get started, how to develop budgets for personal or professional use, real case studies, how to use budgets to set priorities, and how to effectively use different types of communication tools to “make the case” when the need arises to “manage up.” Participants will come away with tips and specific types of activities that they can take back to their own institutions and put into practice immediately.
